URGENT! Owner in jail, 8 year old male shepherd crying for companion and his dog companion who is gone and 20 cats - Suffolk Co. NY

A friend that works for a judge needs to place 25 cats. A lofty goal indeed. Also there were 2 German shepherds. 1 of them just died. The other is severely depressed and moans all day in grief. Story is that the owner is accused of murder and is in jail. My friend has power of atty. he has been taking care of the animals on a daily basis before and after work. The animals are still in the persons home. The house is to sold soon. If no help the animals all go to a shelter. I am really concerned about all but especially the poor grieving dog. Can u help in any way?
