Two mini apricot bonded poodles Finster and Sammi for adoption - so cute!

We are sad to say, that my son Kenny is trying to place his two dogs for adoption. This is a heartbreak for both of us, but we realize it is not only the best thing for them, due to Ken's long work hours, but now necessary, due to new living arrangements. If anyone knows someone who would be interested, please let me know.

Adopt Lady, senior female staffordshire terrier spec. needs as she is partially blind

Lady is a senior Pit Bull X, approximately 55 lbs. Lady is a special needs dog. She is partially blind. When she first arrived here, she seemed to have trouble walking but this no longer seems to be an issue. This older girl still has some spunk left in her. She loves being outside to run around, take walks and loves to play with toys. Lady may tolerate a male dog as a buddy and cats are a possibility. She has some MILD food and toy aggression, although as we've gained her trust, this does not pose a problem. Lady loves to climb in your lap, give kisses and loves to be by your side. She would do best with an older family with no young children. If you can find it in your heart to give this loving girl a warm quiet place to curl up and spend the rest of her golden years, please call us today. for more information please email:

kjones@westhartford.org or visit the site at
http://www.petfinder.com/pet-search?shelterid=CT132  Lady has a video so please visit her page!  Lady is located at the West Hartford Animal Control in West Hartford, CT.  Just look at her great smile!!

UPDATE: ADOPTED!!! Adopt Petals, an 8 year old female border collie mix

This is Petals. She is in need of a new home or a rescue group.
Petals is a feamle border collie mix, weighs about 50 lbs and is just over 8 years old. The dog belonged to my aunt's brother. Late last year he was diagnosed with cancer, went into the hospital and has since been moved down to Florida to a nursing home near my aunt. A friend of ours graciously took Petals in thinking it was a short term situation but now that it's a permanent situation we need to find another home for her. We currently have two cats and two children under two so we are unable to take her. She is a very loving dog with a sweet temperament. She is getting over an ear infection and as I understand she has dry eyes that require drops. I would do anything to find her a home, no kill shelter, rescue, anything.

If you can help Petals please email joansdogs@aol.com or
Pbonadio@dsmcapital.com

Adopt Savannah and Hannah, two bonded 7 year old spaniels in NJ

Contact; Sherry at: sheiser50@yahoo.com

These two bonded, petite girls were surrendered to a local shelter when their owner went into a nursing home. The family could not care for them so off to the shelter they went.
Both were so scared, the volunteers would sit in their cage and pet them for hours.
When I picked them up, they both shook so hard it made you want to cry for them.
Now in their foster home they are beginning to seek out attention. They are doing very good with leash walking after never being on a leash.! Savanah and Hannah are both sweet, calm, submissive, girls approx 7 years old and weigh 23 lbs. Both could use some weight on them.
They still need to be spayed, etc, but we are letting them feel a bit more comfortable before we put them through the stress of thinking they were abandoned again overnight at the vet's.
If anyone has an adopter willing to adopt both girls together, please contact me.

They will make someone very happy. They would love a nice, quiet, home with no children or other dogs. And, will only be adopted together. please consider adopting these two lovely dogs!  Instant pet family!

Adopt Sheba, gorgeous husky/shepherd mix age 12 very mellow

 Video for Sheba: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sSMZL0ZuR40
My name is Sheba and I am a lovely, gentle, mature lady who is looking for her forever home. I am a Shepherd/Husky mix t 12 years young. I am wise and very smart. Yup, I sure do still have my wits about me! I am very mellow but enjoy a romp or two and still have a nice bounce in my step here and there... I know what I like...What do I like? Well, I love people, children, dogs and even get along with cats. I love to sit and watch the world go by and, when ready, I get up and check out the boarders of my foster home, check on my foster family, including the fellow furries, and make sure that everything is A- O- K.. I am a very smart gal who is very caring and loving toward my foster family, and I love to play with my foster doggie friends, two labs...yup, I can keep up with them...here and there. We play "chase" around the backyard tree and that is lots of fun! I love to go for walks and my eyes twinkle when you say to me, "Sheba, want to go for a walk?" I walk well on leash and know not to pull .. I walk WITH you so why would I pull? I also love to go for a car ride, or just sit in my foster family's backyard...in my favorite spot. Oh, yes, I am fully Housebroken. I do not mess up a thing. Neat as a pin, am I. I have one blue eye and one brown eye...just like many Huskies do...interesting, right? Makes me even that much more special. I am a very special girl who lost her home because her daddy had to move and could not take me. I lived with another dog, Scout, for many years and we had to be separated. He found a home and now I am hoping for mine. I would be a wonderful dog in any home. I would do best in a home with slightly older children, to keep the activity level a little more mellow. Please apply to adopt me, Sheba, at: www.rescueridge.org and please download an adoption application. email: rescueridgeshelter@gmail.com. I would love my forever home very soon. Many thanks!

Foster Home Needed, OR adopt Bonnie and Clyde, two senior bonded chihuahuas

Hi, we are bonnie and clyde.  What are two little dogs like us doing on a big old rottweiler rescue?  Well we don't know!  But what we know is we now need a new foster home until we are adopted!  More about us: We are most likely husband and wife, both spayed/ neutered.. Bonnie and Clyde are so used to each other, like an old couple. When one is taken out for a walk without the other, despair sets in..... These two are made for each other.. Clyde is a 10 yo neutered male. He weights 8.7 lbs. Clyde is the shyest of the pair. Taken away from Bonnie, he looks back at her. He is reluctant to leave her. Clyde is good on the leash, he seems very much housetrained. He is fine with all other little dogs he's met. After "making friends' with him, Clyde behaves like a very sweet chap with no handling issues. Clyde poses nicely for the photo shoot. he can surprisingly sit on command. Back in the house, Clyde hurries to Bonnie. They are both clearly happy to see each other. Both Bonnie and Clyde are nice "little dogs". We would like to find them a home together. Bonnie is a 10 yo spayed long hair Chihuahua . She weights 10lbs.  They are sweet dogs and just need a new home together!  please contact ny70_2000@yahoo.com or visit our site for adoption information.

Adopt Roscoe, 7 year old shepherd/husky mix - currently on mend from broken leg

Roscoe is a 75 pound shepherd/husky mix located in Maryland. Minutes before Roscoe was to be put to sleep I received an urgent phone call from the local vet office, hoping we could help Roscoe. Roscoe had been hit by a car and shattered his back left leg. After having several surgeries on his leg, his after care proved to be too much for his family, and their vet suggested amputation. They conceded they could not longer afford any more medical bills and had him scheduled to be euthanized. When I met Roscoe, I knew immediately he was not ready to leave this earth. I accepted Roscoe, into our program, and with the help of the SPOT, Calvert's Spay and Neuter program, he is back at the hospital getting the support and care he needs. The surgeons believe they can save his leg. Roscoe will spend some weeks here at the rescue getting around the clock care, while his leg is o the mend. Roscoe was a family pet for many years, and I believe will have years of happiness and health, with a new family. Roscoe lived with other dogs and children, but probably a home without cats would be best. Roscoe, will be ready for adoption after his leg has totally healed. We are accepting applications. please visit http://www.petswithdisabiltiies.org/ for adoption information.

Samantha and Jack came in together because their owner was evicted and they could not take them to their new apartment. They are very sweet 8 & 10 yr olds. Samantha loves to lay on our meet & greet couch and just be pet or take a nap. Jack is perfectly happy to sit on the couch with his head in your lap. These sweet seniors don't deserve to here in a shelter at their age. They have much love to give and love to have a warm home and soft bed to sleep on.   Jack&Samantha's Contact Info

Adopt Benji, in sunny Florida now but transport is available!

Benji is a silky terrier who was found emaciated and scared and shaking in a shelter.  He is probably 15 or older but you would not know it as the foster mom has done an amazing job rehabilitating this old soul.  He runs and plays in the grass, likes his naps and has a personality!  Good with cats and dogs who won't try to jump on him, he is getting stronger every day but needs a permanent retirement home where he can live out the rest of his life as a pampered pup.  Please contact
jenkins_lori@bellsouth.net if you would like more information or if you are interested in adopting Benji. Senior dogs make great pets!! WOOF!

HOKIE needs a new home - lost his home, lost his leg - NOT GOOD WITH DOGS

Hokie is a 10 year old female shepehrd, UTD, HW-, and spayed.  Hokie was a chained dog living under a house.  Owners dumped her in a shelter and she was rescued.  However, Hokie is EXTREMELY animal aggressive but is an absolute love to humans.  A senior, animal aggressive, big dog is not easy to adopt.  But she deserves a family of her own. About year after her rescue we had a terrible accident.  Hokie was 'Queen Of The Foster Dogs' although she had to be segregated from the rest of the dogs, she had her own second story bedroom with a queen size bed and TV.   One evening I was outside playing with the other dogs, Hokie got very upset, jumped out of the 2-story window and broke her leg.  Her leg had to amputated.
Hokie has been here for 3 years and although we give her as much attention as possible, with her being animal aggressive she is not really living as part of the family.  She deserves so much better!  Would love to find her a family all her own with no other pets. She deserves this after such a hard life and now an accident that made her lose her leg.  please contact:  Shannon at  RESCUE@DOGSDESERVEBETTER.ORG

Dakota needs a new home - has already had two owners!!! Stroudsburg PA

Dakota was brought up from the south as a puppy.  She was adopted and after five years dropped at a shelter because the family had a baby and she was "jealous."  Subsequently her current owner decided to “rescue” her from the bad situation.  After a year, she has now posted her on Craig’s list because she is taking food from the old dog in the home, and they just “don’t have time for her”.   This is a dog that runs a high risk of being ruined from being bounced around.  She is approx 7 years old, spayed, and weighs 45-50 lbs.  Dakota can sit, give you her paw and will jump and catch treats.  She loves to be outside to play.  Catching balls is one of her favorite things.  She is good with older children but unsure around younger children.  She is an active dog who needs someone to spend time and work with her.  Please consider giving this girl a chance.
