This handsome 8-year-old gentleman is very friendly and quiet. Once he gets to know you he is steadfastly loyal and loving. Despite that ordeal, Mr. Peabody is the sweetest, kindest little soul. He has great energy and loves kids, other dogs, going on the subway, riding in a car, snuggling in his doggie bed, music — everything! Adorable Oliver was found as a stray. This 8-year-old male Shih Tzu mix likes just about everything, including car rides and long walks. Oliver would do great in a quiet home, and would be okay sharing it with another dog or with a cat. Love Oliver? Katrina dog Lucille needs new home.
Lucille from The North Fork Animal Welfare League, Inc/Southold Animal Shelter and thousands of other pets will be available for FREE adoption during Maddie's Pet Adoption Days in NYC, May 31 & June 1, 2014. http://bit.ly/MPADNYC
Lovely Lucille survived Hurricane Katrina as a pup, was brought to New York, and found a home. However, when her human family began to have children, they no longer had time to give Lucille the care she deserved. This sweet, 8-year-old Border Collie mix still has lots of energy: she loves long walks and playing ball, and would do great in a home with a large yard. Lucille is good with other dogs and cats but would do best if there were no young children. If you see the undeniable appeal of Lucille, contact North Fork Animal Welfare League at manager@nfawl.org or (631) 765-1811, x1.

URGENT - home or rescue needed - Charlotte NC - $100 sponsorship money for Smokey a 9 year old chocolate lab that needs quieter home with no young kids
to help SMOKEY please contact: Stephanie at stephkulik1220@gmail.com
Smokey is a 9 year old purebred chocolate lab, crate trained, house trained, hw negative, up to date on vaccines, micro chipped and neutered. He loves to play fetch, take walks and laying around. His family is trying to find a better home for him as the birth of their third child causes smokey a ton of anxiety. Their vet had tried dog Prozac and Xanax, and the owners were not comfortable with the change in personality on those medications. The vet had actually said that if they weren't going to keep him medicated, they should euthanize him because the quality of life was not good in that situation. Once he had been at my house for the last three weeks, he's calmed down considerably and seems to be enjoying himself. I believe his quality of life would be better in a calm home where he will get lots of attention. He cannot go anywhere to be an outside dog. Unfortunately, he is a humper and I've not been able to stop that, therefore, where is he friendly with other dogs, other dogs may not like it. Please share him so I can find him a home, perhaps a retired person, or a couple with a more relaxed lifestyle. The owners have been trying all the techniques I used at my home, but he's just miserable with them and their kids.

Twin Oaks Horse Sanctuary on long island comedy fundraiser! May 18th
Hello Animal Lovers! :)
The following came to me from my friends at Twin Oaks Horse Sanctuary for Older Horses. They have started the campaign below to help with some VERY much needed stable/fencing renovations and other necessary expenses to keep their sanctuary running. I am hoping you will feel inclined to help them get the word out to others by sharing and posting this message. They are a relatively new sanctuary, though they had previously functioned mainly as a boarding barn with lessons and such for many years. They have a soft spot for the oldsters particularly and wanted to dedicate their work to the care of those too often discarded and thus switched their focus. Being relatively new as a sanctuary, though, means they haven't yet gotten as much exposure as other rescues and could use a little boost in that department.
Also, for those who are local to the Long Island/NY area, they are hosting a Comedy Event to aid in their fundraising efforts and that information can be found in the attached flyer.
Thanks for any help you can provide with sharing!
Michele

Elizabethtown NC severely neglected senior yorkie needs rescue now and veterinary funds....
Blind from cataracts, nearly toothless, starved and neglected; Tiny 3.1/2 lb Yorkie, Ginger was removed from a home that was totally unable and incapable of taking care of her. This 12 year old blind senior Yorkie has only two nubs for teeth.
Poor Ginger existed in a deplorable situation. The owner being physically unable, to take her outside, rationalized, that If She Did Not Feed Her Much, she would require less potty breaks, and nearly starved.
After the elderly lady slipping on a puddle of her urine, a family member wanted to euthanize her. A Shelter Friend wants to help her but, with Choco needing at least another surgery and Mitzi, who passed, and their medical emergencies, we just do not have the funds. We need your help to save this pitiful little creature.
This little girl may have many more years of life left, and does not deserve to die.
Please call or Text Silvia at: 910-876-0539, Debbie at: 339-832-0806, or email: bladenpets@yahoo.com (at yahoo.com).
