n April this year, my grandfather (who raised me)  passed away rather quickly with pneumonia.  Birdie belonged to a friend of mine (2001) in Cynthiana, living on a farm & when she was a year old, my friend had a baby & couldn't take care of Birdie any longer.   My grandmother had recently passed away & so we were able to provide a companion to my Papa & to Birdie.  It was a match made in heaven!!!  They provided each other exactly what the other needed.....  My Papa walked her almost every day (when the weather permitted), they would take lazy naps, eat together, go fishing, etc, etc until this year when he had chronic bronchitis & then became hospitalized before his passing.

Birdie is an 11 year old wonderful, sweet, submissive black lab, beagle mix.  She wouldn't hurt a fly....  I'm very torn about possibly turning her over because it was my Papa's dog & I feel like I'm giving up.  However, the problem is that I already have my own pet (a male basset/beagle) and I have to keep both dogs separated because he constantly wants to lick on her, sniff on her, etc. etc.  My house is just not big enough for two dogs, plus i have a full-time job & it's very diffcult to care for them both the way they should be.  I almost feel like Birdie would be happier if she had people who would be able to pay more attention to her.

Marty is approximately 9-10 years old.  He was found in a rabbit hutch with 2 other 20 pound plus dogs.  If any of you know what a rabbit hutch is, you can well imagine it is like living in a medium wire crate with a wire floor.  Judging from his physical condition, he has lived in it quite a while.  His cruel owners had moved off and left him and the other 2 in the sweltering heat, finally a neighbor called the ACO after hearing barking for 2-3 nights.

 His feet are splayed, his spine is twisted.  He just had 10 teeth extracted.  He was covered in fleas and is missing some of his hair. He has terrible dandruff.  His tongue hangs out the side of his mouth because his teeth are gone..... But I love him so much, he is absolutely the best, most grateful little guy I have ever rescued.

 He is now clean, flea free, dandruff going away, teeth (what he has of them) are cleaned. He might weigh 4 lbs. at best.  He sleeps in bed with me every night.  He has a little hop in his step now, he actually can run a little bit and yesterday I did hear him bark.

 I am looking to place him in a special home, and it has to be just the right one, but I know it's out there.  If you can help me do this, I would most appreciative.  Marty is fully vetted, and is housebroken, extremely obedient and gentle.  No kids....at all.  He has been tortured enough..

 Thanks for any and all help.  He is just a little guy that takes up a wee bit of room.  He sleeps a lot and brings a lot of joy to this household.  He is social with other dogs his size, he runs and barks at bigger dogs so he is fearless!

Cosha is a very gentle and quiet Shepherd mix that is looking for a calm home where she can spend most of her time napping on comfy beds by your side. This senior pooch came to Bideawee after she had been dumped at a municipal shelter. She was emaciated and ill when she came to us and it took a few months to nurse her back to health. Throughout that time, we have fallen in love with her good-natured soul, angelic behavior on the leash during walks, and tolerance of all sorts of people and other animals. At approximately 8 years of age she simply needs a family that will love her unconditionally and let her live out her life with peace and dignity. Cosha weighs around 37 pounds now and she is still putting weight back on. She is housebroken for the most part, but may have accidents in her new home.

This poor girl lost her first family and now she is about to lose her current family and ultimately her life through no fault of her own.  She is a sweet Senior girl, who is just looking for a forever loving home.  If you have any space to 'squeeze' her in, or if anyone could commit to her in the future, please let me know ASAP.  She would be ok with
a submissive dog but likes to be the one "in charge."


I am not convinced that her current Guardian is doing everything in his power to find a suitable placement for her and certainly doesn't seem to be taking any responsibility for her future, so it seems that by default her future has been placed in my hands.

Ronya is a spunky, playful and loving Miniature Pinscher mix. While the vets have aged her at around 8 years old, she doesn't show signs of slowing down! Ronya gets along with other dogs and seems to be [...] friendly with cats as well. This social, 12-pound sweetheart came to Bideawee via a municipal shelter, where she had been dropped off as a stray. Ronya allows all touching and handling, but she can become uncomfortable with restraint of her paws and muzzle and may become mouthy in these situations. Odessa needs a home! Senior Pit Bull! south NJ

So. Jersey- Senior Pit Bull Odessa Brought Back to Health - now urgently needs placement!!

Odessa is 7-8 years old and arrived as a stray in poor condition- clearly a breeder who had been kept chained, then outgrown her usefulness and was discarded.  She has been treated for URI and heartworms and brought back to health from the brink.  Odessa is great with all people of all ages.  She is good with dogs, but prefers relaxed and polite dogs, and probably would prefer a male.  No cats for Odessa please!  Odessa's foster mom not only brought her back to health, but spent a lot of time transforming Odessa from a "yard dog" to a beloved house pet.  She is well-mannered, enjoys her crate, and is housebroken.  She is excited to go for walks and likes to explore, but mostly she just wants to be with you.  She will make an amazing companion.  The shelter is full and Odessa is returning in just 4 days... please help us keep her safe!  She's come so far...

Lester is a five +year-old neutered pit mix who was saved from a high-kill shelter in West Virginia. He is currently in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, waiting for his furever home.

 Lester had a cancerous tumor on his left leg, which was removed, and he is doing great.   He is approximately 50 pounds and is a short,stocky, itty- bitty pitty!

 Lester, just plain and simple, "GETS IT!" He picks up on the energy of humans and rolls with it. He listens intently to your every word and LOVES to have human contact. When he looks at you, you see the merciful soul that goes along with his huge heart.  

 Lester loves kids. I have personally seen him around kids, and he's great with them.

Lester is ok with other dogs, and he actually would benefit from dogs who are social.

A home without cats would probably be best.

 Lester is good on a leash and is curious about the world. He passed all of his tests with flying colors. He would benefit from socialization and possibly obedience classes, which would help boost his confidence, as he can be a bit shy at first.

 Lester is learning how to play.  He loves to "fetch" and willingly gives up his toy to be tossed repeatedly.  He is so much fun to watch when he runs to get his toy.

URGENT! Two VERY BONDED Senior Dogs Need a home! Doberman and Shepherd - Leonia, NJ

   Owner dogs who are very bonded need a new home OR rescue.  From owner:  I have a couple of senior dogs that are in need of help.  I have a pair over wonderful dogs that need to find a home.  They are a very mild mannered Doberman and German Shepard Dog.  They have been around other dogs and cats with no problem and get along with children too.  The Shepherd is named Carla is 10 years old, has good hips and is very alert.  The dobey is named Tobey and is 9 years old, also has good hips and great over all health.  He did have a tooth removed and all his shots brought up to date at Teaneck Animal Clinic recently. 

    I love these dogs very much and because of my new living situations I can no longer keep them.  I have them at my parents home but my folks can not take care of them any longer.   My wife and I have a newborn and our apartment does not allow pets at all.  We have been looking for some place to live that would allow the dogs but it has been in vain.  My father found a shelter to bring the dogs to, but I have found out that it is NOT a no kill shelter.  I am beyond horrified beyond words.  I am looking for a miracle right now, they are very good dogs.  If you can help them please let me know.  Even if it is to a kennel while a foster home or new home is found.  email: allanstgermain10@gmail.com

ESCUED! Adopt Duke, 14 year old male poodle. Chadds Ford PA

I rec’d a call today from Allison, one of the vet techs at Brandywine Veterinary Hospital in Chadds Ford.  They have a 14 yo male Poodle whose owner went in to the hospital and, sadly, will not be returning home …  Equally as sad is the fact that the family doesn’t want Duke, so he’s stuck in boarding with nowhere to go. 

Can anyone please take this boy into their home?  Duke weighs about 15 lbs.  He’s is neutered and just had blood work done, the results of which were “remarkable” for his age.  His eyesight is a little poor, but he’s not blind.  He has a minor ear infection for which he is being treated, but is otherwise healthy and spunky, with a “fun attitude.”  Sounds like a darling dog with lots of love to give.  It is not known how Duke is with other dogs, cats, or kids – at least not yet.

Pal is a male 6 year old Welsh terrier mix. He is neutered and up to date on all vaccinations.  He is house trained.  Pal has been a great companion to an elderly man who unfortunately had to be admitted to a nursing home.  He loves people and responds lovingly to attention.  He enjoys playing and loves taking walks. He has been the only dog in the household so we do not know how he interacts with other animals. A handsome senior Wire Fox Terrier, Chester was rescued by a Bideawee staff member when she found him abandoned in a park in Manhattan. This 10 year old weighs 18 pounds and he is mostly housebroken but he may have accidents in his new home. Chester will need an experienced family without children or the elderly, as he has demonstrated severe resource guarding behavior with food. Chester gets along with some other dogs and seems to be disinterested in cats. Once he has a calm home environment and a stable routine, we are certain he will bond to his new family and be a loving companion!"

Meet Snoopy a sweet 7 year old female beagle who needs rescue now. She is in a shelter in Tennessee. Hi! My name is Snoopy! I think I am about 7 years old but I feel much younger. I am at a place they call a "shelter". They are very nice here but I really want to go to a home. I have been here for a long time and they are so full already. It is a small shelter and they haven't even officially opened yet. I have heard some of the other dogs barking that when they do open that they are going to have a hard time finding room for everyone. It worries a lot of us but I have this nice rescue lady that comes by and talks to me and she told me that she would do everything she could to get me out of here. They have these nice people that come by and take pictures of us. They said if I made my best beagle face it would help me to find a home, so that’s what I did. I also wanted them to show me sniffing which is what I like to do. As you know, beagles like to hunt things down and the world is just so full of smells. That is why I need a fenced in yard, sometimes I follow my nose and forget where I came from. The vets came by and gave me shots and some worm medicine and took some blood. I am heartworm neg. They said I would be "neutered" before I left for my new home. MEET BLAZE This beautiful guy is Blaze. He is ten years old, neutered and housebroken. He was brought in the shelter because of allergies and scratching. How someone can get rid of a member of their family after ten years is beyond me. He is now on allergy meds and his food is kibble, and he is doing much better with his allergies. He is a very friendly dog. He is a collie, lab mix.
